The 2021 Student Conference

“Living with the Pandemic: Opportunities and Challenges”

Los Angeles, California, December 28th, 2021

Organized by IMSA Students, PCI NU USA/Canada, and the Muhammadiyah USA

Background

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world. The governments around the globe have mandated various guidelines and policies to limit the movement and mobility of their citizens and minimize the disease spread. People needed to acclimate their everyday lives, including wearing masks, maintaining social distance, avoiding the crowd, and working/studying from home. The ability of the government and citizens to effectively adapt with those changes may determine the success and failure in overcoming the pandemic. Questions that arise from this circumstance are: How do the government, politicians, scientists, NGO activists, and religious leaders deal with the COVID-19 pandemic? What are the challenges that the society faces during the COVID-19 pandemic? What are the changes that occur during the pandemic that has affected society? How does society adapt to the changes and face the challenges? How does society turn the challenges into opportunities for them economically and socially?
